Kuala Terengganu : Masjid Kristal
By Kuciensem
Nestled on Pulau Wan Man at the mouth of the Terengganu River, the Crystal Mosque (Masjid Kristal) stands as a modern architectural marvel and a shining symbol of Islamic art and innovation.
Constructed between 2006–2008, it was officially inaugurated on 8 February 2008 by Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin .
Unique for being the world’s first mosque constructed entirely of steel, glass, and crystal, with a rooftop adorned by 9 large and 51 smaller domes, and four graceful minarets.
Its design blends Moorish, Gothic, and even Chinese motifs, creating an ultra-modern, shimmering appearance that appears to float when lit at night
Recognised as one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia, the mosque’s mirrored surfaces range in hue from golden to silver depending on the light .
Powered by solar panels and IT-enabled for worship, its commitment to technology and sustainability makes it a forward-thinking landmark .
It’s a popular wedding-photoshoot location, drawing both amateur and professional photographers for its winking reflections.
